Sam's Post Christening Party at Punta Diwata, Vinapor, Carmen, ADN

This is an overdue post but it worth posting so I'm still gonna post anyway ;P

So, last November 15, 2014, Samantha Grace P. Pelino was officially welcomed to the Christian world and I was one of the Godmothers. Sam's parents are dear friends of the family and so we happily accepted the invite to become the baby's Godparents (me and my bf stood as Godparents).

Friends from Iligan City also came and so it somehow became a reunion of some sorts of college friends.

During Sam's Christening (grabbed from Ching's FB acct)
The day after Sam's christening, we all decided that it would be a blast if we all went to the beach for old time's sake and enjoy the limited time that we all have with each other as we were quite sure that it would take a long time before we all see each other again. Ching, Sam's mommy, already had Punta Diwata in mind but unfortunately, we had a little problem. None of us has a car that we can use. Renting transport would be too expensive and commuting is out of the question since the place is so hidden, we would need to transfer from one vehicle to another a lot of times before we can even get there. And it is just not ideal since there will be babies with us. Thankfully, Rj and Ching were able to borrow a ride from a family friend and so we were able to go ahead with the plan. :D

The view in Punta Diwata is just amazing.

Looking for something boys? ;)

Amazing view!

The coral bed

It was a cloudy day so the pictures looked a little dim. But it was just right for me since I didn't bring any sunscreen lotion. The water was very nice, too. It was cool and very clear.

Punta Diwata is not not like any other beach I've been to before because there are no sands to leisurely walk on. Seriously. Actually, as you can see in the pictures, it is a cliff and you have to go down the man-made stairs to get to the water. On high tides, the water reaches the stairs so you go down and you are on the water immediately. When we got there, it was low tide so the coral beds can be seen. It's painful in the soles of your feet if you decide to walk on it barefoot. You may also step on occasional sea orchins that are plentiful in the beach. So a footwear is definitely a must when walking on the coral bed. And it's the same case if you decide to take a swim. I was wearing slippers in the water and boy is it uncomfortable! So, if you decide to go to Punta Diwata, make sure you have surf water shoes on hand. But if you don't have any, a comfortable, non-slip slippers (if it even exists) will do.

Hello Sam! :D

Going down the stairs
Did I mention that the place is really far? Hahaha Butuan to Carmen is almost an hour and a half ride and Vinapor is 30 to 45 minutes away from the National Highway. On our way to the beach everyone was complaining because it seemed like forever to get there. But the long trip is worth it and it is always great to spend time with friends. :)

How about you guys, you been to Punta Diwata already? Do you have other beach destinations that you can share with me? Comment please! :)

PS: I just realized that I don't have pics of with Ching and Rj.. :(
